Goldenloch
March 13th–Week 11- 2017
This has been a much better week weather wise, the winds general ferocity has at last started to die a little, stability is what anglers want, fish like things to be pretty much unchanged or at most slow changes, the water temperature is slowly starting to move up in the loch, not a lot, bit a little, new rain knocks it back and we have had more than our fair share lately, I think its pretty fair to say that most fisheries at the moment have undergone some pretty coloured water ( murky) generally caused by the changing winds, East, West day about, also coupled with the wind speeds this year has been some really strong high gusts, which has just stirred up all the rotting weed decay and crap that lies on the loch floor, a massive amount of good will come out of this yet, as I predict there will be some spectacular hatches this year, due mostly to the fact that all this mud stirring and decaying weed underneath will have triggered Fly eggs to hatch and buzzers will be enjoying the fresh mud to forage in as bloodworms etc, this is pretty much proven by the health of the fish being caught just now, bellies full of bloodworms and snails, anglers fishing generally have done pretty well considering the adverse conditions, remember that most fishing here are in boats and that to be able to go out in all conditions and catch fish especially during January and February is no mean feat, Hopefully the work to make the mature parking area, will recommence soon, basically this will allow the more senior anglers all weather access to the loch side, unfortunately its been a good few weeks of mud due to the unusual amount of rain, some unreasonable arguments have ensued as to the conditions but it is work in progress, there has been some pretty good fishing this past week Joseph Williams and friends had a great day with fish being caught regularly as was with Will Evans and friend fishing from the bank, Sandy McDonald using just buzzers having a good day with 8 returned, Its good and its great sport, Diawl Bachs, Green Black Buzzers and small yellow lures being the most common flies.
