Goldenloch
February-20th–Week 08- 2017
It’s not been a great week this past week, although things are warming up nicely, in fact we have had two days of what we on the farm used to describe droughty days, that’s when the lying water or dampness just evaporates up into the sky, that’s great, the evil East wind that blew for so long stopped last Monday, then there was a change in direction, but the water had got muddied with that strong East wind blowing up the loch having the effect of churning up sediment and dirt, secondly we have a serious cormorant problem, with several visiting early doors and terrorising the fish having the effect that they go into hiding in the deeps and stay there for at least 4 hours, well that was last week, OK the fishing wasn’t that great, but people were still picking up fish, mostly from the bank at the top of the loch where all the crap was getting blown towards, Trout need a stable environment, it’s a proven fact that they do not like change and what we have just now is masses of changes, temperature, wind, sunlight, viability, so its not surprising that its just got a tad harder to catch fish, looking forward it will soon be March but anything can happen in the next 10 days, its currently 12.5 degrees and a 48% humidity what a change from a month ago, hoping for a wee bit calm in the weather so as to buck things up. Not that I am saying the fishing was poor but it has been a lot better, we don’t have zillions of stockies to catch and what there is available is really good. I’ve not seen or heard from the Captain this year and I do hope he is healthy, I am missing his words of advice and his sarcasm, perhaps he is still out in the ocean, I am aware that having a vessel in Dysart is pretty exclusive and that there is a protocol in being part of that Club, just to say you are Missed.
