January-09th –Week 02- 2017
Following last weeks warmer week, this weekend has been weird, so the benefit of having your own weather station is that you can see / spot trends in the weather, when you are evolved in a fishery as I am, it is important to be able to see and understand the changes in the weather, its affect on how its fishing, certainly the station I now have is quite a bit better and more accurate than most, but still a good weather station need not be that expensive, Maplins do a good deal, anyway the pressure since Friday 6th has been really low, that is after a week where the Air pressure for this time of year was higher than the last few years average, now years of experience told me that the fishing this weekend was going to be really tough, and it was, but somehow anglers were catching fish, if they did as were instructed, Sandy Drummond,Kingskettle being an excellent example, recently having his best two days ever, as well as low air pressure the humidity was 95% and that is really high coupled with a air temperature of 9 degrees it was going to be cold and misty, it was, my prediction would be that it will be the same tomorrow, however I do know for a fact that when the weather does change, the fishing will be really good, I would expect a complete change in peoples fortunes, however David Wilson did well today only fishing for a couple of hours, and without his specs manage 2 with 1 kept and the other released / perhaps lost, it was a good day for him making it seem better was that there were a lot of fish to be seen, Colin and Billy from the bank again did very well with a few each, I think 7 in total, but not having a very good day on Saturday was Mike Lewis who blanked, it was a real bad day to be fishing, weather wise, with very little fish to be seen, however Mike was in a boat and a guy on the bank did much better.
