September-26th –Week 39-2016
Wow, well that been a week I really want to forget, firstly the fishing has been pretty good, a few guys getting a record number of fish catches, and on good breezy days some or rather a lot of fish being caught on dries, sedges and hoppers, most people having great sport, but I do have to apologise that there was no one in attendance for a couple of days, anglers were having to sort themselves out, basically I contracted a type of Flu Virus which saw me sleep solid for two days, I cant remember much only occasionally guys coming to the house, seems like all enjoyed themselves however, I was feeling slightly better and met the lost wanderers Rab Grierson and John Henan Methil, and a pal, now lads I know you had probably your best days fishing ever, and if I seemed a tad grumpy it was because I just wanted you to move a bit, and let some others catch a fish or two, perhaps you will understand know that I was just a wee bit under the weather, but yous were catching a fish or two with every cast, But I am sorry, Saturday morning was a bit of a disaster with a really high gusting wind, it would have been foolish of me to allow the party of eight out on the boats, I did say that probably the wind would drop later and I did offer goggles and lifejackets, and the opportunity to go on the bank but alas, another loch was called and boats provided, with winds like it was on Saturday the fishing would have been really hard and boats drifting everywhere no fun, Yesterday Sunday was excellent fishing with lads out in all the boats first thing, plus it was nice to see Lewis and his dad back, Lewis really enjoys his fishing and for someone who has only been fishing for a wee while does exceptionally well using dry flies and yesterday one of my regular lads kindly gave him some FABS and guess what he only went a caught a fish first cast with a yellow one, well done that guy you’re a star, you know who you are and his dad says thanks, talking about flies, Now chaps I have pleaded nae even begged you in the past for stuff, this year we haven’t been nearly as busy with young people as another outfit is now doing basically what we were doing, we have loads of Kit Rods Etc but are short on current working flies, we have plenty buzzers, nymphs’ and Dry flies, so in anticipation of cold wet days when fishing is impossible and you need to make space to tie even more flies as you haven’t possibly got enough, Please we are happy to recycle them and put them to good use, I know of several lads that would benefit, What we need is Blobs, FABS, Fritz and yellow owls, just generally stuff that’s worked well these past few weeks.
