August-15th –Week 33-2016
I think I am glad this week is over, the fishing has been very varied with some people doing exceptionally well, and others not, mostly there are many other factors involved and its not just the weed that’s the problem, but its back to weed pulling tomorrow and we will see just how much can be got from big long pulls, which means that it is now attacking the main body of the loch, again, the wind on Friday did a lot of good in blowing the loose weed to the shore, Saturday was a completely different day to Friday and even although anglers did well on Friday afternoon and evening, the morning on Sat started well with Brian Dewar and his Buddy fishing at the far end of the loch catching quite a few, they then moved down to the other end, allowing some others to fish the spot that they were in, however true to form where they moved to was even better than where they had been, they continued to catch fish, and this on the spot where on the previous day, two lads stripping lures had blanked, every body caught fish on Saturday, including the two very elderly gents who never moved and just sat in the same spot, they had 9 between them, all on Loch Ordies, Today Sunday was a bit like the day before except it went flat calm, we also had quite a big temperature drop which completely spoiled the evening rise, however Brian Dewar and Alec Burns did exceptionally well and again they were moving about, but their technique was obviously the right one as they both caught an amazing amount of fish, Lures are not working at all, you would think that after fishing for a few hours and catching nothing anglers would change their tactics, that’s what went wrong with lads on Friday and some others yesterday, a fishery such as this one can produce some
outstanding sport at this time of year, its proper fly fishing and when fish are examined there stomachs are full of freshwater shrimp, snails, buzzers and bloodworms, Fly Fishing is for sport, pleasure, fun, enjoyment but most of all its being able to adapt and catch fish in their own environment.
