Goldenloch
Apr 25th –Week 17-2016
Soon and very soon this horrible cold spell will be over, I did notice Carol on the BBC morning news / weather this morning stating that this year has been one of the coldest on record, that the average temperature is about 2 degrees lower than it should be, my observation would be, that the East wind has been blowing nearly every second day sometimes more, yet the fishing is still pretty good, it is very noticeable when its like this, how some lads do much better than others, only last week two lads fishing from a boat that didn’t move about much, had 22 fish, later a single lad going onto exactly the same patch dropped 5, so what is the difference, patience and years of challenging experience, yesterday, Sunday two lads turned up, loads of gear and boxes looked like proper hardcore anglers, when I spoke with them they had intermediate and sinking lines and were armed with blobs, lures, feathers and bloodworms, squiggle’s etc but it was cold, now just now we have loads and I mean loads of rising fish, catching them is almost impossible, the water is crystal clear and the wind is swirly, I did notice that the lads were very mobile, that after an hour they were gone, and that’s the problem with a lot of the younger anglers today, not having the necessary skills to catch under challenging conditions, that’s why they get hammered in competitions, its always the same guys that win, why, cause the winners, practise and learn, two regulars turned up and immediately from the same spot started catching fish, its good to be challenged and its good to learn, Fishing is a sport that suits all, but most importantly it is to be for pleasure, just for fun.
