Apr 18th –Week 16-2016
Still cold with a good East wind blowing 5 out of 7 days this past week, the resulting effects are that the fishing is only good when there is a break in the wind or there is no wind and there has been quite a few of them, fish are being caught and its fair to say anglers’ are having to work at finding out the best way to catch them, with loads of fish showing in the spells of calm water, just covering the fish isn’t working, but finding the right depth and make of fly is the bonus, certain anglers have there trusty favourites and others work away with boxes of lures or buzzers, but it would seem that the best box to be working with would be a box of small wet flies, or even the occasional dry fly, Martin Nicol, Perth, a regular had a bounder of a day last week even with the east wind, other doing well were Alan Gibson and Harold Henderson, the common thread amongst these chaps is that they fish for fun, they all did well and all were using traditional small wet flies, was also a day when there were periods of no wind.
