Storm Imogene, is I believe today, however this time it’s an English storm, no doubt David Cameron will award millions in compensation to the stormbound recipients, but it is a beautiful day here, unlike yesterday, which was horrendous, a lot of rain and wind, but nevertheless true to form anglers appeared and being that it was our grandsons birthday party I just left them to get on with it, not thinking they would stay long, yet 4 hours later on our return they were just leaving the comments were, that the fish were active and looking for buzzers and Diawl Bachs, with another lad catching using quite large wet flies, he didn’t know the name but the could have been a pheasant tailed nymph, with one chap getting 5, 2 of which were really nice brownies things are looking good for a good start to the new season, it wont be long now till March, some warmer weather, some nice days and evenings, the first week of February has now gone, the water is still slightly coloured, the loch I would say is at bursting point, the overflow has ran full pelt since early November, Cormorants are a real headache this year, and once not that long ago, you could get a licence to shoot them, but the criteria to get the licence now is so outrageous, its difficult to meet now, a frosty winter means no cormorant visits which excludes an average two year count, there is not much that can be done, its now governed by SNH, it used to be the Scottish Office and at least you could talk with them, the penalty for shooting them is now so severe, being permanent loss of guns, licence and a very heavy fine to boot, used to be the case that people would come and shoot them just to help you out, keep them away, with the prospects of the penalty and so many people out in the countryside its really not worth it.
