Goldenloch
Jan-11th–Week 02-2016
This the second week of 2016, at the Goldenloch Fishery, has probably broken a few records, the first being for the amount, rather the volume of rain that has fallen from the sky in the last 7 days, my weather station rain gauge failed, it could not cope, the boats almost sank due to the amount of water in them, the outflow I think has only once before ran at such speed, with the volume of water passing through and that was after a huge snow melt, the jetties are all covered, the water is very coloured, visiting cormorants plague the loch, so scare tactics are well in place, however spare a thought for all those in real trouble it must be the worst possible thing to happen, to a house, home, business to be flooded, with having a fishery you expect or rather know that at some point something is going to happen, those poor souls in Ballater never knew or expected the river to burst its banks, the hatchery we use, Westmill, up at Blairgowrie, has seen the river next to them, top over the banks and flood the hatchery, everyone is affected, Water is beautiful when at peace and calm, that’s how we like to see it, nice and tranquil, not when its angry, I haven’t started my water readings yet for 2016, its to crazy to go out on a boat, about the fishing well its been a steady week and the average catch is about 2 each, enough that those fishing are more than pleased with their days sport.
