Dec-28th–Week 52-2015
Hears hoping everyone has had a Merry Christmas and enjoyed family and friends visiting and chatting, we as usual had free fishing days on both Christmas day and Boxing day, it always amazes’ me that people do turn up, usually pretty local guys who are just out for a wee bit fresh air but certainly one chap did very well that I am aware of and all from the bank another said that it was so cold, unbelievably cold on the fingers, the water level in the loch is at its absolute maximum due to all the rain and with the outflow running at full pelt it is more or less a full time job making sure that the grids don’t get choked, So how’s it been fishing well some have done very well and others have struggled, I think what is happening is the guys that go winter fishing, kind of know better what to do, the guys that catch, lets say where it is easier to catch fish, find it a lot harder when they come here, we have plenty of fish in fact more than we used to have at this time of year, and more due next week, its just there is loads of feeding, and it would seem that it is more abundant than it ever was before at this time of year, but the bigger problem is there has been so much fresh water, it has put the fish down deep, here is an example two guys fishing in a boat, catch 9 fish, one getting 4 the other 5, at the same time on the bank a guy gets 4 and looses 2, meanwhile two other guys out in two separate boats catch zero, not even an offer, so what’s the difference, well it has to be technique or just plain ability, some guys fish only with yellow dancers, olive damsels etc whilst others are still using sedges, diawl bachs, buzzers and they are the guys that are catching fish however that falls apart when someone turned up and fished with a squirmy and had a ball, anyway with the rubbish weather, the wind, the rain, Christmas, flooding, traffic, bridge closures, its not about catching loads of fish its all about just enjoying a few hours fishing and have a happy New Year When It Comes.
