Nov-23rd–Week 43-2015
Cold, wet, miserable weather, but sometimes a gem of a day can be had; yesterday Sunday, being such a day, fishing at this time of year is all about relaxing with peace and quiet, without stress, interruptions, and the general stuff that just makes the weekend annoying, however for those anglers that ventured out yesterday, which was reasonably mild for this time of year, the sun was shinning most of the day (really bright at one time) the fish were being cooperative in that they were biting and chasing anglers flies, anglers were met with silence, no background hum of traffic, no wind, no people or any noise of any kind, other than the swish of lines as flies were being chucked back and forth, catches were reasonably good 11 to one boat, 10 to another and 9 to another, the bank angling just as productive, although the ground proving to be absolutely waterlogged and just oozing with water, anglers really appreciating the jetties and being able to find a firm dry footing, the sun shinning as an amazing effect at this time of year it kind off clears away the air making it bug free, it makes one feel like they are healthy, noses stop running and eyesight seems to improve, however it is nice to get back into a nice warm place: The fish just now are in really good condition, the readily available abundant feeding seems to be encouraging growth, we know that the loch contains a lot of brown trout, the ones stocked back in the late spring were then approximately a kilo, however several anglers have commented that fantastically formed brownies in the 3 to 3.5 lb size are being caught and returned, the beauty is that these fish that are feeding on natural food and are genuinely in as wild a situation as can be will be available from March next year to kill, and will be as great a catch as there could possibly be, The water, which we seem to have a lot off just now is crystal clear and its temperature is back up from 3 to 4.5 degrees which shows that the heavy rain over the past three weeks had the effect of a sudden cooling which just put the fish down to the bottom and stopped them feeding
