Goldenloch
Sept-28th –Week 36-2015
Still loads of flat calm days, these are warm days with cold nights, so the fish are a lot deeper in the water, which to be honest suits the more winter orientated angler, fish are moving though and showing in all areas of the loch and they are pretty active, seemingly if you cast a dry right on the rising fish you’ll get it, loads of fish being caught and lost mostly due to a hard fight and using to light a line with the water being a lot cooler the fish are massively more active and are fighting like demons, lots of rainbows being caught and a few are in the 4 to 5 lb size which is pretty good considering the fish that we stock are all meant to be a maximum of a kilo, best flies this week past have been CDC and shipman’s buzzers but at night when there is a rise its still Diawl Bachs, and nymphs that are catching the most, some lads have done really well Alan Burke has consistently caught approx 10 or 11 fish in his last 3 or 4 visits as has Robert and Andrew Colins, Kirkcaldy, they are a father and son and started fishing here a couple of years ago through the Groupon scheme, and now tie all their own flies courtesy of you tube, watching them fish is a pleasure as they are a couple who really enjoy themselves, Sandy Drummond, Kings kettle is another who really enjoys his fishing and with several caught every time he fishes, he is just a quiet steady angler that takes his time to find the right fly and depth that the fish are at and then doesn’t change much, Eddie Henderson, Perth, has been doing very well of late, perfecting a way to catch Brown trout, with 6 returned safely, actually Eddie just lets the line go slack and they are off, being barbless, with a really large head of Brownies in the loch, we were expecting a lot more to be getting caught, but interestingly its only certain anglers that’s catching them, Steve Smart, Strathmiglo 7 out of 8 were Brown trout and Mr Henan and Rab Greirson had a few on Sunday, but nothing like what we thought would be caught, which is good as it means only the best can get them.
