goldenloch sept-14th –week 34-2015
Its been an excellent weekend, the best part has been the drop in temperature, with water temperatures now down to low figures 10 > 12 degrees the fishing has just become so much more interesting, this happens every year, this year its much quicker than usual, in that the hot or sunny weather usually lasts till the end of September towards mid October, last weekend we had a really bright sunny couple of days but the warming was cancelled out by cold nights and this week we have had really cold nights, Arthur Henderson, Dundee setting up a new midge tip and new expensive line, wanted to test it, and fishing from the first Jetty had 11, all in under an hour, all safely returned commented that he wished he had bought this line years ago, also regular Sandy Drummond, Kingskettle could do nothing wrong, Eddie Henderson another regular, fishing dry flies had 8, 7 brownies, and a huge amount of offers, probably some of the best sporting fishing this year, its not been the best year weather wise for anglers, but certainly its been a superb year for actually enjoying the sport and catching rising or feeding fish, there have been a few days that have been slow and harder, but actually the amount of fish caught this year is on par with every other year, fishing with boat partners is definitely up this year and although the evenings seem on the whole to be mush shorter, the night rise has been earlier and quite spectacular as Greg Watson and Aaron Scott witnessed last Thursday night with hundreds of fish rising all over the loch, this was about 9pm and the boys not fishing but up for a walk just watched as Bats Swallows, Sand Martins, and fish all battled for flies.
