Goldenloch aug-24th –week 31-2015
Its been a funny week, I can understand why everyone including myself is getting really fed up with the weather, its just absolutely shocking, the changes are so dramatic, hot, sunny, dismal, calm, torrential, lightning and gale force and that was just Friday past, being serious an old angler a guy, who I had a lot of respect for was Joe Kilca, a Polish lad who came here to Scotland after the war , Joe lived in a place called the Star of Markinch and he was one of a rare breed that would take a lot of time to explain why and how fish did what the do and how best to catch them, anyways Joe often said that Trout any kind of trout, did not like change they preferred things to be the same, they liked periods of continuous weather, like sun every day, or wind every day, not days that were vastly different, that’s what’s happening just now, and the fishing because of the changing days is not impossible, its just a lot harder than it was say two weeks ago, the night and early morning fishing is still really good, the evening rise is just before dark which currently is about 9pm, it is excellent and any boys here at that time are getting good catches, what I will say is that lures just now are just not working very well, on a windy day last week some lads fishing with lures had a very poor day and although they left with a few fish it wasn’t what they had expected, but they did say that they had had loads of offers, not long after leaving some of my regulars arrived and went to the same place and on the bank and caught fish after fish, all on diawl bachs and sedges, but its different for everyone and as long as people are enjoying themselves then what more can be done, Fly Fishing For Trout was never meant to be stressful, it was conceived from very wealthy people who were looking to relax, enjoying their surroundings, now it is for everyone to go to any fishery and pit their wits against hard fighting fish, tranquillity and serenity are two words not often used but describe Fly Fishing to a tee.
