Aug-17th –Week 30-2015
Been just a tad more difficult this week, but catches are still up there at really good, genuinely, anyone catching just now are getting fish on dries and small wets, the satisfaction factor is massive, lots of takes and long lines getting put out and anglers losing fish especially when the fish are just being inquisitive, its good, no **its great**, so now what to do, well, we as a fishery are looking to try and improve things, the way other fisheries have done this is by stocking bigger fish, its not something we have ever done here, and yes its nice for the angler to catch a big fish, but one mans satisfaction is not a lot when there are another 30 – 50 or more men wanting the same, so we will leave the big fish to other fisheries, what we are doing is well I suppose reverting back to what it used to be, “Brown Trout” as of today the first load of 2lb+ brownies are getting put in, and the deal is at the moment prices will remain at £15 / day, £20 / full day, on the £15 ticket 2 fish are allowed to be killed, or everything can be put back, for the £20 ticket its 3 fish, selective fishing is not allowed as is all the other conditions per my previous posts, also the “Brownie Season” ends on the 30th September so we only have a month and a half to trial this, they are allowed to be returned for the rest of the year, what we ask for is that only one brown trout in your bag per visit, we still have people that kill fish for no reason and these fish are given away, they kill them cause they have to get there monies worth and for some reason get satisfaction from being able to do that, its not very sporting but that’s just the way they are, slowly there attitudes are changing, we now have no clubs or groups that kill indiscriminately, we have more anglers that keep fish in the water whilst hooks are removed, the use of barbless hooks has increased ten fold in the last few years and generally speaking the husbandry factor is high, all anglers wash there nets in the net dips which are at the car park, or use our nets, its all good and its easy for us to see that the anglers / clients are doing there bit, “Happy Days”. For other reasons no winter season tickets are being issued this year but existing all year tickets are being honoured.
