Goldenloch june-22nd –week 22-2015
A Fantastic week fishing this past week, the water is clear, the weeds are pretty much non excitant, what weed there is isn’t causing any harm, only good cover, but it is just getting a bit bright now, the fishing has been superb and I mean really fantastic, first thing in the morning, from 6.am till say 9 am, plenty anglers arriving for early shifts from 5 am onwards and getting loads to catch, a few lads camping, also fishing all nighters have said that the fish are swimming and taking off the surface all night, it would be very easy to say that dry fly fishing is at its absolute best in the very early morning sunrise about 3am, we also cant complain about the amount of rising fish this year as there are fish moving all day, but there are plenty times when there is something hatching and there is a huge amount of activity, with the fishing now what it should be, and catches being really good we have taken the decision that we no longer will allow the use of snake flies, or rather that type of lure, up till now we have tuned a blind eye to them, but recently there has been some fish found dead after anglers have been known to use them, it could be that the water is getting to warm or that there is an excessive amount of lures being used, however it is perhaps pre-emptive of me to blame the lure but as the fishing has moved from difficult to reasonably easy there is really no need for any type of lures to be getting used at all, it is a sport for relaxation and pleasure and not for ripping flies and fish out the water, make it more challenging for yourself and enjoy the sport, if we do not get some substantial quantity of rain or some nice cool weather, then from a husbandry point of few we will have to cancel Catch and Release fishing, but for the moment the C & R will remain but we are instant that the maximum of 9 be adhered to, which in all honesty is plenty fish to catch.
