Goldenloch may-11th –week 17-2015
I really am getting fed up blaming the weather, but this spring has got to have been one of the worst seasons starts for fly fishing, there are little pockets of nice bits like on Saturday night two lads stayed till the wind dropped, they had fished all day and although seeing loads of fish, had only caught two, the fish were supping something off the surface and no matter what they tried they could not find something to interest the fish, what happened after 7pm, when the wind dropped was that the fish started to cruise along the surface and there dorsal fins where clearly visible 2 or 3 cm out the water, with hundreds of fish doing this it became obvious that they had found something interesting a closer inspection revealed shrimp at just about 3 inches under the surface millions of them, the next morning was very different and back to wind, which just went on all day, actually it was a bit worse than that with a few anglers here it was very cold and three lads had to give up, they had arrived early doors and the temperature dropped to about 2 degrees as the sun rose, with the wind picking up for them it became miserable, later however it was an all change and by lunch time the wind had gone, new fresh warm anglers and fish getting caught, as the day progressed however the wind rose again and spoilt the early evening, now no names but two lads fishing and I told them what had happened the night before so waiting till 8 the wind suddenly dropped and low and behold fish again cruising and supping, both lads getting 3 each, happy chappies.
