Goldenloch may-04th –week 16-2015
Poor weather these past few days with a lot of wind and rain, made the fishing very uncomfortable, however in amongst all the wind and rain anglers were still catching fish, 3 lads from Milnathort on a shortish visit managed one each, big smiles all round especially since two of them had never fished before, loads of fish caught on Friday a day that was reasonably good weather, But the spring fishing that we used to get has never really happened this year, and being honest what is needed is some warmer days and nights, OK we have had a few days when the sun is shinning, but every night its been nearly completely clear skies and very low temperatures, the water temperature this year is about 6 degrees and whilst I have records that go back 18 years only once before in May has the Temperature been this low, the fish are moving about in the loch but they are not really that active, yes newly stocked fish will be taking flies and making fishing seem easy but older fish especially overwintered fish seem to be still lying on the bottom, several times anglers have commented that fish have had snails, blood worms attached to them, these are fish that have lain in their burrow, just doing nothing and have probably made a move as they have seen a tasty fly whizz past, so what we need is a bit of warmth, I am sure it will come we just have to wait.
