Goldenloch march-23rd –week 12-2015
Back to cold, nothing new with that, fishing was really good for 5 out of last weeks 7 days, the 2 poor days being when the wind was blowing from the East or rather the North East, and that really just switched everything off, Thursday past was one of those days and with eleven anglers out on the loch, and a few on the bank, it was noticeable just how cold it was, and how the fish were no where to be seen, but that’s fishing and at this time of year that is what happens, the next day however everything had changed the wind was back to blowing out of the west, it was like a totally different place or scene with fish moving and being caught, some lads really had Bumper days, with most of the fish that were caught being caught within 10meters of the bank, however it seems that the flies that were doing the trick were the old favourite the little devil himself the Diawl Bach, however the best seemed to be grey / red and that it definitely needed a longish tail, Eddie Henderson Perth doing well and Martin Nicol still regularly getting his 2 fish within an hour, a few much bigger fish have been caught this week and surprisingly some were killed as usually these ones are returned to fight another day, hence the reason they get to be bigger or rather did, its all about fishing for fun and tough days only go to make the easy days more pleasurable, going fishing and catching half a dozen fish every time does not make for happy fishing but catching a couple of fish after a couple of days catching nothing is something special, two weeks ago we had one of Perthshire private schools here with 5 young anglers one of whom fishes a lot in the Oregon, but he has fished all over the world, he had a light 4 weight rod, and his comments to me were that he just enjoys casting a line, every cast is different and every retrieve is the same, but to him the pleasure was not in catching a fish but in letting it go back unharmed.
