Goldenloch, week 10, march 9 2015,
I wrote this Mid Week on Face book, So far its been an interesting week with 3, YES, Three, warm days and little wind and one day saw the first of our School visitors for 2015, albeit there was only five youths turn up and one master, but fish they could, all the boys were from one of Perthshire’s many private schools and they were taking up on my offer which I put to many schools in Fife and Perthshire, the boys had a very enjoyable time, 17 fish caught and returned, all on nymphs and buzzers, but there are four other days in the week and some of them were excruciatingly cold and windy, three boats out today and everyone catching fish but the wind and cold was the real winner, Sandy Drummond Kingskettle had 11 all returned and Martin his usual 2, Its fishing good just now but its got to be the right fly or line / fly combo set up, two guys struggled on Tuesday using lures while another very annoyingly to them caught loads “not telling” was his retort when asked what he was using, this weekend should be a good one we can just wait and see.
However Saturday turned out to be the real storm of the week, very high wind and blasts of cold air, a good few lads showing, but the decision not to fish wasn’t that hard to decide as we had already had the previous week, a fly in the head, So what was going to happen on Sunday, not expecting a big change it was utterly amazing to see a gorgeous morning, two lads arriving at the crack of dawn went out in a boat and straight into fish, one of them an angler of long ago had a stonking day, his buddy just was flabbergasted at his ability to catch, meanwhile on the bank fish were being caught with Yellow Nymphs and Diawl Bachs, later on the Youngsters’ Callum Munro and Bryan Gove having their usual session of combined sports, actually managed to catch a fish probably the smallest one in the loch, its good to see these young guys trying and enjoying themselves with the use of decent flies that were donated and all now all boxed up, they like many others, can get the use of them on their visits which is a massive help towards being able to catch and make their angling more enjoyable, As many of you guys know with your massive array of different fly types, without them it wouldn’t be that easy to catch a few fish.
