Goldenloch mar -02-, week 09, 2015
Week past was a Humdinger, cold, wet windy, wind like it was wanting to blow away everything that was not fixed, the water on the loch got really stirred up and weeds were ripped from the far end where the fish normally hide for shelter, February has been quite dry however as my weather station tells me we have only had about 25mm since Feb 1st So what’s happening down at the loch, well some lads are doing well, but honestly, its only on the warmer days, the fish don’t want to move much when its cold, guys that are catching are using blobs and brightly coloured flies which are basically imitating feed pellets or are just annoying the fish, on the few days that there has been little wind and the sun is shinning there has been the odd fish showing and I do mean occasionally, Martin Nicol was here on Thursday past and even he commentated on the cold, he got his usual 2 but did say it was quite a bit harder, Eddie Henderson, Perth was due a freebie due to his loyalty and on Friday I said to him that he should have today on me, however 10 minutes later he showed up, with this big fly well and truly lodged in his forehead, normally and in the past, I have just used a line and removed them by holding down the fly eye down and giving it a tug, using the line wrapped round the flies bend, however last year with a fly lodged in a very similar place as Eddies fly was, I pulled out a fly from this gent and it must have touched a vein or something similar, fountain wouldn’t even come close to describe the events that followed, but basically both the gent and I got a telling off at the hospital for removing the hook without proper supervision ??? So the answer is anywhere bar the face it’s OK to remove flies, above the neck it’s the Hospital, sorry Eddie
