Goldenloch jan -01-, week 01, 2015
Its New Years day and the Ice has gone but the wind and rain are back, with a few turning up over the past few days its been good to see people enjoying themselves breaking the ice, Sittin having a few beers, or just out for a walk, I promised not to mention any names especially if your from Dunfermline, anyways its now 2015, a new season begins, last year was a good one, with everyone enjoying the fishing, the quality of the fish, its very pleasing to note that anglers that come here enjoy the taste of the fish they have caught, we’ve had more emails about the fish quality than ever, I think a lot is due to the abundant food that is available for the fish to eat, especially the small shrimpy things, one thing is very noticeable and that is this year there has been a lot less fungus on the fish, in fact none, this is always something that anglers tend to point out, also there were fewer fish that needed to be destroyed, this is something that used to happen with bad handling or to much Catch and Release, the grass carp have been a major success but I really am not to sure how many are left there have been a lot more caught than I would have imagined and one lad even killed 2, what he did with them I will never know but certainly they didn’t look very trout like or edible, its now really stormy out there, its 12 am and I’ve just been down to the loch, two lads been on the bank for a couple of hours, well one was and he caught 3 the other lad zero, but he looks like a drowned rat and spent a lot of time in the old chalet.
So taking this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy New Year from John and Anne at the Goldenloch.
