Goldenloch aug -11-, week 31, 2014
Last week I kind of predicted an early end to summer, it wasn’t that I wanted it, I just wanted some cooler weather, this for the water to cool down, and did it happen, two weeks ago the water temperature rose dramatically quick to nearly 19 degrees from a steady 14, and it mostly happened in four days, however it has, over the past weekend it has dropped to 15 which is now perfect, we also have a really good breeze with loads of top up water, the fishing lately has been outstanding, with a lads turning up in decent waterproofs, its good to see the real wet weather anglers going out, so what’s working, CDCs and diawl Bachs, are most people choice, however there are quite a few what I would call sincerely dedicated dry fly fishers and this has been quite honestly their year, Martin Nicol, Perth has consistently caught using only size 16 and 18 hooks, big fish on a huge selection of sedges and traditional dry flies as has Eddie Henderson and many others, the fish this year are doing very well this can be attributed in most to the large carryover from previous years, only a few days ago an angler returning a perfect specimen rainbow of approx 11 lb, also several others catching and returning many in the 6 to 8 lb mark, all these fish with outstanding tails and fins, but the average fish leaving is much higher this year with many 4 and 5 lb fish being caught, as of today Monday 11th August our price for next year are
