Goldenloch july -14-, week 27, 2014
Its been another really good week at the Goldenloch with lots of fish caught and returned, some anglers getting some really nice big fish, however very few brownies are being caught though they are being seen, the best times to catch rising fish is 5.30 am till about 7 or 8 in the morning and in the evening after 10pm, last night Sunday it was a strange one with little or nothing happening, we did have fish up feeding but nothing like the numbers of the night before, during the day despite the very bright sun fish are getting caught using a variety of flies but definitely the most popular at the moment is diawl bachs, loch ordies or brown buzzers, lots of people are using yellow dancers and or olive damsels but are not getting the same results, best fun was two lads arriving, both equipped with two brand new fly fishing packs, eventually after a lot of setting up they went out on a boat and using polar bears caught a fish each, hilarity could not describe their day, both explaining later that each weekend they try and do something new and that last week they had gone down south and had a trip on a steam train, and next week they were going to have a picnic on the meadows in Edinburgh from a hamper, complete with a butler, Fife Police killed 12 and returned 32 on Wednesday past having one of their best outings this year, our water is very clear at the moment but if it is really flat calm we have a surface layer of empty schucs over the loch from hatching flies, this year we have seen a big interest in newcomers albeit some are very young, it is something that we at the Goldenloch positively encourage and if anyone wishes to teach or help a young angler please just say and there is no charge for that person to fish.
