Goldenloch april-07-, week 14, 2014
Its all good with the fishing just now, not that it has warmed up much this week, as the average temperature for the past 7 days has been about 7 degrees, however we have had a lot more daylight hours, the fish have responded by started to move freely in most areas, they are not however up feeding on the surface yet as it will take a few degrees more heat to make that happen, but they are happily cruising about just under, maybe 3 or 4 inches breaking the water with their dorsal fin every now and again, Friday evening saw brothers David and Andrew Flavell arrive and have a really excellent nights sport with some cracking big tailed rainbows being caught, Don Stewart had a good bag on Friday about 8 with a few in the 4lb range all caught using traditional wet flies and buzzers, mostly carrying a lot of black, the fish all seem to be in an excellent condition this spring, mostly attributed I would imagine to the huge food reserve that is being provided by the grubs and worms that are lying in the decomposed weeds from last year, when you bring this gung up from the loch floor it is just a wriggling mass of insects its just good food, with just about no wind to speak of in the last week and very little rain 8mm, its been a week for the water to clear and clarity is now superb, Easter is just around the corner and hopefully some warm weather, so we should see some excellent fishing a nice quite relaxing day on a boat catchin a few troot, Last week saw the start of our beginner classes and Mr Grist and his son arriving on a slightly cold breezy day, after our beginner class and instruction we set them up with orange blobs just so he could see for his first few casts and low and behold a nice 3.5 lb rainbow was caught, luckily happy camper Camran Bowie was on hand to run with a net, Easter should be fun so some nice weather is ordered and with the fish in tip top condition we can only wait and see.
