Goldenloch march-17, week 11, 2014
So here at the Goldenloch like everywhere its been really windy and cold me hoping that things were getting warmer were a little bit premature but that’s no different to the guys who turn up with expectations of catching rising fish, there is some fish that are coming to the surface but I think they are just having a look and then going back down again Sandy from Kettlebridge caught 5 on Tuesday but he did say he was fishing deep and very very slow, it is getting warmer the average air temperature this week is up to 10 which is not bad considering we had a couple of frosty mornings, Tom Brown, Livingston arrived on Thursday every year for years he arrives with a new home made rod and this years is a proper little cracker a 2 piece 7 weight, he fished from the old boat jetty getting 3 and he lost 2 using brown and red wet flies, Cormorants are still a bug with 6 today and they seem to be getting bigger, what is really annoying is if I have no gun they just sit and or dive chasing fish if I have a gun they fly away long before I can get near them, the have got to be one of the smartest birds about.
