Goldenloch november 25 week 45
The last four weeks at the Goldenloch has only seen a couple of really good days and when its good it is good, otherwise it can be difficult, coming soon however is a big load of smaller trout, in the 1.25 to 1.5 Lb (sorry my mistake) size, the idea being that they will grow over winter on the huge food reserve and be good sport in the spring, and to also help the ailing fishing that is currently happening, although being honest for those that can fish they are still getting plenty, but if anything happens like extreme cold, ice or a big wind then its really hard, during the week a lad had 10 all from the bank using small yellow dancer and fritz flies, the flies he showed me and they were a sort of near wet fly type, but they were giving the fish something to chase hard in the crystal clear water, also caught this last week was a large fish approx 8lbs which had beautiful markings and a huge tail, it was caught using a small wet fly of unknown origin and by Tam, that’s all it said on the piece of paper other than it was returned safely, Thanks to Tam, with 22 grass eating carp being introduced hopefully they plus some more, will keep on top of next years weed infestation, but if I am to be honest it’s the anglers perspective about fishing that’s needing to change, long gone are the days of going fishing to enjoy the challenge and to just enjoy the sport, last year we probably had the best dry fly fishing ever with fish getting caught of the surface daily, but still had people moaning about weed on there lures, summed up by a local gent on seeing that we are now charging £20 for a days fishing and a 2 fish limit, HE QUOTES that’s £10 a fish that’s extortionate, my reply is no its £20 for a day that’s basically 8 till 8 or whatever, boat or bank, yet Mr Ignorant still sees it as £10 per fish and that’s the mentality it doesn’t matter about the sport or the surroundings’ the facilities the quality or the size its still £10 per fish, some of these guys need to see sense what ever happened to just going fishing, its all about the expereance.
