goldenloch september 02 week 33
The Fishing has changed, its gone from absolutely amazing to hard in one night, Friday 30th August was a great day with 7 anglers all getting fish, average fish caught was 8 each, all mostly off the surface, Friday night saw a cold wind start from the west and the fish just went down and have stayed down since, Saturday was blustery and with a few rods out the fishing was not like it was the week before and the feeding fish have gone from the surface, however it came good at night with a bit of a rise about 8 and two anglers getting 3 and 4 fish respectively, both catching on small traditional Scottish wet flies and dries, Sunday morning kicked of well with an early angler 6am getting 5, all before 7am whilst the water was flat calm and at about 7 am an East breeze started and the fishing just switched off, 4 lads fished all morning for 4 fish caught, at night it was cool but the fish were back, however there was no one there to catch them, noticeable is the fact that the weeds have gone from green to white and are a lot less obvious on the surface, I haven’t been out in a boat to look but I assume that the colder temperature has bitten the weeds and that they are now at last collapsing, with the onset of Autumn now well and truly here it is noticeable that the trees and grass are still very green and that the Osprey which would normally be away south by now is still here, the air temperature this year is about 4 degrees less than what I would say normal was and that the fruits on the trees what there is, are ripening very quickly, I would imagine that we will see a very quick move into winter however the water levels are very low and without a lot of rain the fishing will struggle a bit, our water level is down about 10 inches and although not a big problem it will take a huge amount of rain to replace it.
