Goldenloch july 15 week 26
Sometimes running a fishery can be very rewarding, pleasant and give you a feeling that someone has had a really good day, but occasionally you have to put up with some ones displeasure, this last week has seen nearly everyday with a blistering hot sun glaring down and little wind or a breeze, the water is very clear just now and the water level is getting low as it hasn’t rained here for weeks, there is weed in the loch, more than we would like, but in hot weather like this, the fish are using it as cover and as we have fish coming up to feed nearly all day it only seems fair to say that the water is full of invertebrates and hatching flies, just about the only way to catch fish just now is using dry flies, every anglers dream, several chaps in the last week or so have had fantastic days sport, not only that we have had lads here that just enjoy the relaxing situation, its not like we are busy and there certainly is no pressure put on anglers to get off the water, yet we see the occasional nutters and last week saw a couple of events happen, one was that this guy wanted to fish where someone else was already fishing, he proceeded to cast alongside the other boat or nearly into that boat, every tine the lad went to change his fly or have a rest, there is a whole loch to fish in, why would you do this, why come here and just cause utter mayhem for no reason, and to be honest the last few days has seen during the day really hard fishing because of the sun, ( the fish really do go deep and hide) however if an angler waits till say 10 pm in the dark and cool, the fish really start to feed as Dave Swinley and his son David from Lochgelly will vouch for, with fish rising and feeding everywhere, but for one guy arriving early doors with a blistering hot sun, going down and stripping big lures, I went across to him and suggested perhaps this was the wrong place for him to be fishing, perhaps he would be better using a floating line and even offered him one, to which he replied that he was here as wanted a challenge as he would normally catch 10 or more fish, however anger got the better of him as he was making such a good job of removing the weed for me and decided to pack up telling all in the car park that he never touched a fish, those people however then went on to fish and thoroughly enjoyed themselves, honestly its what some people now expect, they expect to catch loads of fish every time they go fishing, to be honest this week because of the hot weather we are stopping catch and release on the grounds that the fish which give a good account for themselves when caught are far to exhausted and go into shock rather than recover, but MR CATCHER would probably understand that as he would be so busy stripping his lures through the water, but interestingly in there was a glimmer of hope as he did say he wanted a challenge which meant he was fed up going fishing where it was to easy.
