Goldenloch march 18/ 2013 week 09
I know this day well, its my Birthday and I think this is probably the wettest, coldest most miserable 18th of March that I can remember, just been down to the loch and the raindrops are massive they are very cold and feel hard as they hit, its really windy and its hard and violent coming from the north west as opposed to the normal warm south west breeze so in all it a pretty p*ss poor day and really the last few days have been really poor, although the fishing on some days seems to be getting better, Don Stewart, Glasgow had 5 on Saturday, Martin Nicol 2 on Friday, James Donald from Perth was out one day last week and it was cold freezing cold, he actually lost a fish under the ice, crazy but the ice actually cut his line, getting back to the 18th March it as far as I can remember was always a warm sunny day and even although it is my birthday it kind of always meant that the spring of that year had arrived, for example last year it was a very warm blustery day with loads of birds feeding around the house, it was a Sunday and we had a lot of anglers turn up to fish, the fishing was good and in the late afternoon the Osprey turned up, but most importantly it was a warm day, this weekend coming on Sunday we are planning on having a bit of a competition, basically its for beginners, it doesn’t really matter how many turn up although the maximum will be 20, but I don’t even expect that a quarter of that will turn up if its poor weather, however the plan is that everyone will be given a can of flies and that’s what you will use to catch your fish, Its for fun and I would like to see it becoming a regular event say once a month or thereabouts.
