Goldenloch october 22 / 2012 week 43
Another excellent week for anglers although it did get a bit harder yesterday, Sunday, it was a gorgeous day nice and warm, however not a breath of wind all day, flat calm, early anglers first on were met by some cormorants which were given a quick shift by me then fog for and hour, but after that the fish were active, Alec Fenton, Glenrothes did really well with suspender buzzers, I think he said 7 caught, by mid morning the sun was really bright and the fish had dropped down in the water onto the loch floor, but anglers were soon on top of this and some guys did well, earlier in the week the fishing was really good with nearly everyone visiting catching something if not a full bag, however the bank anglers have been finding it much harder than usual its not that the fish aren’t there, its just that they don’t seem to be feeding as much round the margins, I am not sure but I think it has a lot to do with the rain, we have had a lot of rain in the past few weeks and as someone who has bailed out the boats for the last 20+ years I know that the last twice that there has been a lot of water in them its been a lot more than usual, its only a week ago that it rained solid for two days, what I think has happened is that all the larvae and small bugs in the margins has been very quickly cooled by this new rain and this has caused the buzzer population to decrease to the point where nothing is hatching at the sides only out in the loch, seagulls and what’s left of the feeding birds prove this by them only taking from the centre and the far end of the loch, today Monday is very cold and its been very misty early on when I went down to the loch about 7am there were a lot of fish nymphing just in the deep part and one or two fish actually heads out as if they were feeding, so something must have been hatching.
