Goldenloch july 30 / 2012 week 31
The end of July has arrived and with the loch now healing after its injuries we are still having a few small teething problems, with very heavy rain showers, and some really cold winds, this seem to be causing the most trouble by stirring up the water, making it quite murky, I suppose we should be used to it by now after going through 4 months of very green water, but also our new fish seem to be taking a bit longer to settle in than I would have thought, however with all the bad weather and the horrendous amount of rain that fell just after they were put in I am not to surprised that they seem to be a bit uncertain, my nieghbour and good friend keeps records for the weather bureau (met office) this year he noted that he has seen some of the biggest rise and fall in air pressures especially in the last few weeks, all to do with the jet stream, it is interesting to note however that the fish that are being caught have stomachs that are completely stuffed with insects and bloodworms indicating that they are feeding on the bottom, but anglers say they are catching them at about a foot under the surface usually on some kind of nymphs, with a another load of new fish due this week our fish numbers are now into the realms of being normal and we are seriously looking for some good days ahead, Jim Goodfellow, Edinburgh fishing with his brother Paul, returned 9 using black / green diawl bachs and Don Stewart, Glasgow fishing with his friend John had 7 using black penal, so some people are getting good sport. However for some in explainable reason, we are still having days with a very poor showing of fish and feel extremely disappointed for those that are here with us fishing, we can only assure those people that we have fish our numbers up and that all seems well with everything else its not anything that we can control.
