Goldenloch july 23 / 2012 week 30
With the algae seemingly behind us we spent a week just clearing up of the last of the few dead fish and waiting on a final water test, which being one of many on arrival again does not give a definitive answer, but very vague conclusions, basically stating that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the water, if fact showed that the oxygen level was well above normal, we put in the first load of new fish on Monday 16th of 250 1.5 > 1.75 which are slightly smaller than we would normally put in but are however the size that we used to put in years ago, they seemed to be very happy and just shot of into the loch, and them we had two days of torrential rain, this rain saw the water level rise 6 inches and the water turn brown with dirt and debris, however with no ill effect on the fish, that has got to be the most water I have seen fall in a long time, a few angler and a few fish caught nothing much to write about there next fish arrived on Friday and with them being nearer the 2 lb mark we feel better about the loch being more like it should be, its now just a waiting came the fish need to settle in and the anglers need to feel that they can catch fish again, we had a few out on Saturday, being honest they were disappointed and stated so, but two caught fish and the rest were offered another days fishing free of charge, I was disappointed that they didn’t catch reasonable bags but considering the weeks weather it was never going to be easy, Sunday evening was better with a single angler getting 11 using orange and red buzzers all returned, Sunday evening saw fish rising and taking flies, the fly hatch has not been affected with all the ups and downs and the fish lost, flat calm days sees the surface covered in schucs and thankfully fish are still darting around cashing flies.
