Goldenloch june 18 / 2012 week 25
With the poor weather this past week, the constant cold east wind and the fact that the Algae needs sunshine to move it on to the next stage things are not looking good for anglers at the Goldenloch, its been nearly six weeks since the algae really started to disrupt the fishing and its probably been the worst time of year for this to happen, what should be having a busy time for us has become a big loss, we are having to cancel bookings and are telling people that they can rebook later in the year, its unfortunate that the type of algae we have is single celled and is seemly being fed nutrients’ from the dead and dying plant material that is in the bottom of the loch, the nature of this algae is that it just floats freely in the water and basically clouds the water purely by its concentration, it is absolutely harmless to humans, animals, birds, dogs fish etc and will eventually finish its lifecycle once all the nutrients have depleted, we really do appreciate the support that many of you are giving us and realise that although the fishing is pretty poor its not impossible, this past week has seen several fish caught around the 3lb mark plus one gent caught and retuned a beautiful brown trout at approx 3.5lbs which was carefully returned, fish are moving on the surface but it is very early in the morning or very late at night 10pm or later, hatches of buzzers must be high as the loch surface can and usually is covered with schucs on a calm morning, Eddie Mitchell, Perth had a really good day last week with 5 to his boat, using a snatcher and a yellow dancer
