Goldenloch october 31-2011
The weather forecasters’ need to get their acts together, the forecast this last weekend was completely wrong, “again” and with them saying Saturday was to be cold wet and windy, when in actual fact it was a fabulous day, with a very pleasant warm breeze, John Grey, Auchtermuchty and Don Stewart, Glasgow, Saturday regulars, both commented on their brilliant days sport, John 5, Doug 8, they actually said that they were really glad they came, but had both noticed the atrocious forecast and had reservations about going fishing, but on looking outdoors decided that it would be OK, Oliver Leach, Dundee also enjoyed his day with 5 C&R, Allan Gibson catching 10 using small nymphs and dry flies, the fish are still feeding actively and are moving in the top foot of water, many lads are surprised at this and are having good sport with buzzers, nymphs’ and dries, six complete beginners arrived on Friday wanting to try fly fishing, after 10 mins setting them up with rods and a single Diawl Bach each, they set of to fish, it was pleasantly surprising to see two of them catch fish almost immediately, then as their short session unfolded another 3 fish were caught, On the loch at the same time was S Hannah, Buckhaven who just watched in disbelief he had 3 using various lures, D Ferguson Auchtermuchty had 5 all C&R, Sunday also was a beautiful day although there was a huge amount of rain that fell during the night, Dave Stewart and T Brown both Newburgh arrived and had a good days sport, both lads using wet flies caught 3 or 4 each, the last few weeks have seen a lot of rain falling, bringing the water level up, this colder water has seen the demise of the troublesome weed and now with crystal clear water and winter stocking almost finished we should see some pretty good fishing.
