Goldenloch september 12 / 2011-09-05
At the Goldenloch this last weekend we were supposed to get a so called hurricane and it never happened instead we had a blustery afternoon, Saturday was near perfect and anglers had a nice day, however very annoyingly in certain areas of the loch weed has suddenly started to be a problem not bad but just enough to be annoying, what we think has happened is that we had two or three weeks of much colder weather and the weed in the loch got chilled and sank, but this last week has seen a water temperature rise of 2 degrees and consequently it has resurrected the weed in certain spots, interestingly it has also had the effect that it has put dry fly fishing back on the menu as this last week has seen some pretty amazing catches, Martin Nicol. Perth who has fished all summer only using dries has regularly been catching 3 or 4 which are always returned but on two days this last week he had 8 and 9 using a very small black fly, also getting the same sort of result was Hamish Anderson, Crook of Devon who using a small green peter had 7 with 2 around the 5lb mark, The Burns boys are back and caught 4 each on Saturday night in very dark conditions, with the water clear and the conditions pretty excellent anglers are being treated to some real sport fishing in the last 3 or 4 weeks, the fish are very active and are giving a spectacularly good fight, the smaller fish that we put in a month ago aren’t that small and are making sure that lads fishing from the bank are well and truly getting their monies worth, Last night saw Ronnie Forsyth, Glenrothes from the middle jetty catch 7 using a sedgehog, conditions were poor with a blustery wind showers and early darkness but a great nights sport, F Russell and C Borthwell both Edinburgh decided to come to Fife for a days fishing and had a good day in again poorish conditions with fish showing most of the time they had 5 each, using small flies.
