Goldenloch august -14-11
Since Monday and Tuesday its been a pretty normal week, well normal for August the new fish are well settled and being hard to catch, just like the rest of the fish in the loch, as a different strategy I have coming to-morrow, Monday a consignment of smaller sized rainbows (about 1.5lbs) this was ordered ages ago and was supposedly a load of fish that are younger and just for fun catching, the idea being when the fishing is so hard like it is just now, at least anglers will be catching something, albeit small fish which will just have to be put back, Wednesday was a shockingly wet day and saw the water level rise about 6 inches and the water get slightly coloured, this only lasted for a day and now we are back to having crystal clear water, Friday saw some quite reasonable catches Bill Paterson, Glenrothes 3 for b8lbs, I Ramage Cupar 3 for 6.5 lbs, The Bonnyrigg boys had a not to bad a day with some of the lads doing really well, A Robertson, Kirkcaldy 4, + 2 returned, B Quan and D Quan Edinburgh both getting 4 as did B Naples, M Quan on 3, with the rest of the boys getting 1 and 2, G Ramsey and Alec Burns Kirkcaldy both found the fishing much harder than they were used to and with Graham getting 3 and Alec only 1 they answer must have been in the flies that Graham had, however its not been that easy in the middle of the day especially when it’s a bright day with guys trying every fly in the box, and fish showing everywhere, its been very frustrating for some, the fish are coming up to the surface and cruising around, some are jumping out of the water it looks and sounds like they are cleaning their gills, Martin Nicol Perth did very well on Thursday using dry flies and caught three of these cruising fish.
