Goldenloch august -01-11
Goldenloch anglers have had another interesting week with the weather being the main contributor to their days fishing, the beginning of the week saw the air pressure rise from 29.32 to 29.8 and there was a significant change in the attitude of the fish, catches were almost instantaneously better as soon as the air pressure lifted with this rise came clouds and Monday to Wednesday was great fishing, Martin Nicol. Perth returning all as usual and A Hyndman, Muirhead 9 returned, Graham Brailsford, Glenrothes, had a storming session using dries only had 12, Thursday saw a day of rain and again with reasonably higher air pressure the catches were good nearly everyone fishing throughout the day had caught 3 or more fish the most notable was, A Burke and Jim Gourlay, Coaltown of Balgonie, Allan catching 8 and Jim getting 9 again both lads using mixed dry flies, best catches of the week however must go to Tam Brown from Newburgh, who on taking up a rod for the first time some 4 weeks ago has now caught quite a few fish in what probably has been the hardest month for fly fishing for years, well done to him a quite an achievement as he has more or less just persevered till he started getting it right, a lot of fish being caught in the last couple of weeks have been in the 3lb mark and a few bigger ones are now starting to get caught, D Ramsey, Perth had a bow at 7.5lbs and a brownie at approx 4lbs was caught and returned yesterday seemingly it was in near perfect condition, Saturday and Sunday saw a return of a drop in air pressure especially Sunday which again made the fishing a bit harder but by evening it had all changed again and the fish were back on with a really good rise happening albeit at 10pm five lads fishing and they all commented that the water just erupted and their were fish feeding everywhere, this lasted for quite a while and the lads had to leave as it was getting really late, D Stewart, Newburgh this past week has done particularly well using dry flies, concentrating on fishing at the far end of the loch he has consistently shown to others that by perseverance and patience the ability to catch fish can be very rewarding, he fishes in areas that are weedy and difficult and is successful where others complain he revels in the challenge and just keeps on trying commenting that its just great fun.
