Goldenloch july -11-11
Goldenloch anglers have had yet another week of mixed weather but everyone has been rewarded with a pleasant days fishing, most of the fish being caught however this past week seem to be from the boats, its not been easy fishing as the thunderstorms and high pressure days have been putting the fish down, and anglers thinking that they would have to fish deep were putting on large goldheads and heavy lures, this was not however the method that worked best and for those trying it, they were just wasting their time, this is a shallow loch and as such has a natural weedy bottom, in those weeds resides the most amazing amount of natural feeding, feeding that just multiplies in the warmer weather and the fish just harvest this natural food bar, anglers fishing with big lures and fritz flies when the fish obviously have been used to natural feeding do not stand much of a chance, in reading the book it is pretty obvious that dry flies, nymphs’ and buzzers are what’s working best, the old fashioned flies like loch Ordies and Green Peters are now beginning to be a regular daily entry, winged sedge flies, hares ears and CDC have been working well through the difficult conditions in the passed few weeks, soon the weather will settle and everything should fall into place at the moment however the fish are easiest to be caught early morning and very late at night, during the day from lets say 11am till 5pm catches are being made but its usually when there is a lot of cloud cover or just after rain.
