Goldenloch june -20-11
Goldenloch anglers have again had a pretty good week with most if not all getting full bags and beyond, some days have been much easier than others and this I reckon is attributed to the outside temperature, twice in the last 7 days there were massive drops in the temperature from 4pm onwards on Thursday last week at 4pm the thermometer read a steady 14 degrees and by
5.30 it had dropped to 9, the effect was that the fish just switched off feeding, the previous few nights had seen the evening temperature hovering around the 11-12 mark and the fishing was steady with birds feeding well into darkness, however on the subject of the rising falling temperature, is there any evidence that this is normal or is it more dramatic this year than at any time before, on the days when it is warm, the loch is just boiling with fish, and anglers using dry flies have a ball, Friday morning was one such occasion but by 1 pm we had a very heavy really cold rain shower with the effect that the fish just switched off for a few hours, yet everyone fishing had had a great day, and the same happened yesterday only the rain was accompanied by large hailstones much to the annoyance of those in boats with no protection, the water clarity is excellent and fish can be easily seen darting through the water especially around the middle weed bank and at the top bay, most of the weeds in the loch now, are no problem to anglers and are actually very beneficial to the fish, the far end of the loch is fishing particularly well as is down the bank side and around the weed banks.
