Goldenloch january-17-11
At the Goldenloch we have got a bit of water without ice, it may only be the size of a football pitch, but at least it is nice to see water for the first time in 2011, and true to form we had some anglers turn up, how they knew we had water to fish on I am not quite sure, but half an hour later they had one in the bag and a few knocks, biggest problem however is that the water level is about a foot higher than what it should be, and that the ground and everything else is absolutely waterlogged, the grass that normally easy to walk on is like walking on a big wet sponge full of water, the lodge is surrounded by floods and the outflow from the loch is like a raging torrent, the swans have had a few days of massive fights and the older pair that stay here have kicked seven bells out of the young signets, who eventually seem to have got the message and moved on to pastures new, it did on one particular day seem to get a bit fierce and looked like something out of a fiction film, with feathers and bits flying about, but now all is calm, I need a couple of days to tidy things up, get the boats done, and back in the water and by the weekend we should be up and running, complete with fixed water pipes and bust toilet etc etc.
