Goldenloch january-10-11
To-day at the Goldenloch for the first time since Nov 28th we have woken to find it breezy, not only that, its reasonably mild, however there is a lot of ice to melt, every day for the last few weeks the ice on the loch has just got a few mm thicker, the last time I looked which was two weeks ago, the ice was a good 8 inches thick, so it’s pretty safe to say that I don’t think there is going to be much fishing for a while, the swans have come back which is a bit unusual as they normally would have found some bit of riverside or green vegetation to devour, they have been staying right in the middle of the loch obviously staying away from foxes etc, also its quite unusual for them still to be a family, normally by now the adults would have chased the young away, but it could be due to the fact that I think that they are all pens, and that the father is a relatively young lad, and not so bad tempered as his predecessor, the frost has caused a fair bit of damage and there are a few repairs to be done, the toilet even although a small heater was on, has burst wide open and the water pipe burst in a few places, boats were taken out and given a hot pressure wash before Christmas but are now full of water, we haven’t seen the car park or even been able to get into it as it had a good few feet of snow in it, but its now getting really boring and I wish it would just go away.
