Goldenloch october-04-10
Anglers at the Goldenloch are all happy now that we have had about 3 inches of rain in the last week, the water is now so much cooler (12 Degrees) and the Algae for 2010 is well and truly past, the fish are now pretty active in most areas of the loch and given a few days to let them get accustomed to the big change in the water conditions the fishing should become pretty good, yesterday Sunday saw the lads from Cameron Bridge catch a few and comment that there was a lot of fish moving in the bay at the top end of the loch, Bill Smart, Denbeath, using a Diawl Bach and a Green Cat had 2 for 4lbs returning 4 as did Mike Hay, Perth, using a Sedgehog and a nymph, having a good day but finding the fishing not to what he was used too was Alec Miller, he was using an Orange blob, and an egg fly, as well as trying a sunburst blob and a Sunburst Jabbler, eventually catching 4 returning 1, his comments were that he had found it a fun day, but just a bit frustrating, in that he had had a lot of follows and a few soft takes, a name from the past Jim Horsburgh, Kirkcaldy had a days fishing on Saturday, Jim using a damsel had a few early in the morning and kept 2 for 4lbs, To-day Monday has been a bit of a strange day, the fish were very active first thing in the morning but as the sun rose the wind started and the fish just went deep, personally I think with all the rain we have had, and the sudden cooling of the water, the fish just are lying low, however for some it was pretty good, Kevin McAlister, Kirkcaldy, and friend had a pretty good day, I am not sure how many were caught but every time I looked, there was a bent rod, further up the loch in the small bay, past the old hut, has seen a few fish being caught in the evening, although it gets dark pretty quick the wind usually dies down completely, and that seems to be the place to be, Jim Rossen, Dundee, using a small river rod caught and landed a 5lb rainbow on a Montana, on releasing it, commented that he was surprised at just how hard the fish fought, being more used to smaller river trout he had assumed that loch trout were lumpers and that this being his first time loch fishing would definitely be back.
