Goldenloch september-20-10
A Massive improvement in the fishing at the Goldenloch over the past few days with fish being caught in all areas, recent rains and the much colder mornings have dropped the water temperature and more or less killed of the algae that was in the water, it is still present but only in very small areas, what is now apparent is the large head of fish that is in the loch and some guys just couldn’t do anything wrong Grahame Ramsay and Alec Burns both Kirkcaldy had a belter of a day using diawl bachs and Montana’s keeping 3 each and returning fish, no matter which part of the loch they were on, as did Bill Smart, Denbeath, again he was using a Diawl Bach, but this time with a damsel, he was getting them just under the surface, however as the past few months has seen a very challenging time for anglers, and with the fishing being very difficult ( some days almost impossible) the actual amount of fish being caught and removed has dropped significantly, so much so that it has lead to us having a very high stocking level in the loch, it was us continuing to stock as normal whilst we had the problem with the algae, and Fife Region putting up the signs that said the algae was harmful, this caused a lot of anglers to stay away or go elsewhere, it is worth explaining that with the region they were only protecting themselves and at no point did they say that the fish were causing a problem or were infected only that the water had algae and that animals and children were to be kept out as it may cause a skin irritation problem, we are now basically entering into what I would say was the start of the winter season and the beginning of some really exciting fishing weather it will be interesting to see if the numbers pick up now the weather has cooled down.
