Goldenloch feb-15-10
Nearly a full week at the Goldenloch without any frost or ice, although when I woke up on Thursday morning it was covered from side to side with an inch of ice, it was easily broken however and it melted really quickly due to the bright reasonably warm sun that was shinning two lads on arrival fishing from the bank and were very quickly catching fish using soldier palmers and diawl bachs, Wednesday was an equally interesting day with a reasonable amount of fish caught all mostly from the bank, having a really good day were Fern and Kieran Westland from Fruchie catching 5 each, Bob and Shaun from Cowdenbeath caught and returned a few as did Alan Gibson all from the main boat jetty, But this is still winter and the weather got much colder at the weekend with the effect that it seemed to drive the fish out into the loch as the chaps fishing the bank struggled to catch much, they were getting fish but nothing like when it was warmer, there was a huge difference in the afternoon when by then things had warmed up a little John Gray Auchtermuchty had 12 all returned and his buddy Don Stewart Glasgow had 4, Sunday saw more or less a carbon copy of Saturday just different clients, Alex Burns Kirkcaldy wrote having my best day ever and Les Wilson and Jim Burns both from Glenrothes could possibly said the same, but they were on boats and the bank boys were seeing very little, John Bisset, Buckhaven had 1 on a Gold Head PTN and Shaun Pairman Glenrothes keeping 1 caught using a snatcher, at this time of year there is a lot of luck involved in being in the right spot, I have however noticed that there are a lot more fish breaking the surface in the last few days in all areas and that’s a first this year all we have to hope for is that the cormorants stay away as they are jut brilliant at herding the fish back into shoals.
