We understand that everyone is pretty desperate to go fishing, however it really would be wiser to phone first and see what like the ice situation is, the problem is that the ice got so thick during the cold spell and was covered in a layer of snow which then it melted and froze that it is now acting like a sheet of insulation, also not helping is that some fisheries seemingly openly broadcast that they would be ice free by Sunday and then that never happened so anglers got all excited and started looking around for somewhere to go, at this time of year the only reliable place to fish is the rivers as they will be last to get iced up and being honest most of the lads looking for fishing at this time of year know some stretch of river that they can fish on and admit that the only reason they come to a loch or fishery is that they are more likely to catch a fish on a fishery than in a river, so what is the ice situation at the Goldenloch well this weekend has seen warm thawing condition during the day but unfortunately its been a minus condition every night, so we are still completely ice bound there are however small pockets that have melted and are clear water but unfortunately they are definitely not big enough to fish on, I will put up a notice as soon as we have water free.
