Goldenloch nov 09-10-09
This last week at the Goldenloch has seen a real change in the weather, starting last Monday and after a couple of really good days fishing at the weekend, it went all wild and windy bringing an end to the summer of 2009 and introducing Winter 2010, we are still waiting for the brownies to turn up but I am reasonable confident that they will be here in the next few days, last week I went and visited the Willowgate Fishery at Perth, just under the Friarton bridge, and was really impressed with what they had on offer, its good to see another fishery with the same type of fishing as we have ourselves, we wish them all the best, another fishery reopening this week is the Newton at Wormit after a few years of closure, Steve who is a member of the Police Angling Club has had a few hard weeks work pulling out and cutting weeds; we are sure that it will be worth it for you Stevie and wish you all the best. So what’s been happening here, by far the best days fishing was last Wednesday when it was a reasonably mild day after a mild night, everyone fishing caught a few fish, however it was freezing on Thursday and Friday which really chilled down the water and made the fish just lie on the bottom, to-day Sunday saw fish showing but under a bright warm cloudless sky after a very cold frosty morning, this frustrated anglers as the fish were not that interested in anything, however fish were caught using either a black or a silver gold headed nymph by late afternoon/ evening there was a pronounced movement towards the loch sides as the fish seemed to come in for something hatching in the margins, late arrivals Joe Hamley and his partner Julie Storrar from Canada, staying nearby and on a fishing trip to Scotland could not have timed it better, 4pm till 5.30pm and only because it got so dark, using Diawl Bachs and Black Nymphs the couple had a few from the boat jetty (11 in total), this couple have had nine days on various rivers and lochs, but are now looking forward to visiting a few distilleries and getting some shopping in Edinburgh, they are hoping to come back as this was their only fish caught in Scotland
