Goldenloch sept 14-09-09
The weather in the last few days at the Goldenloch has produced near perfect fishing conditions for about the first time this year, and the fish just bubbled to the surface, early morning and mid morning are definitely the best times to be on the loch however last night at about 6pm Jim Wilson, Dalgety Bay commented that he had never seen so many rising fish, especially around the margins, he had come expecting to use a Consett Budgie but ended up using small dry flies and caught and returned 5 fish, one of which had run him right down to his backing, something that hasn’t happened to him for a long time, it just took off and their was nothing he could do about it, With all the weeds now completely gone and the water level high and reasonably clear the fish are starting to feed up for winter, it also looks like the massive amount of feeding that was available during the summers warmer weather is now lessening and that the fish are hunting and competing for the available feeding that’s left, anglers that come here to the Goldenloch come for a relaxing moment and to take in nature and its surroundings Monday past saw the most amazing spectacle that I think I have ever seen and that was the signets taking to flight for the first time, with no air traffic control to guide them, they were flying in all directions, however what seemed to catch them out was turning from flying into the wind to going with it, and they just dropped like stones into the loch, and one that managed to climb vertically up to about 30 ft just stopped flapping its wings and fell like a shot down plane, someone forgot to tell it about gliding, as usual it all happens when no-one was about and me not carrying a camera.
