Goldenloch 13/04/2009
Goldenloch anglers have been enjoying some great sport with fish moving in all parts of the loch, since last week the water has slowly been warming up as the days have been quite sunny, but Saturday and Sunday saw the wind disappear and just leave a glorious warm day, the fishing couldn’t have been better and with everyone whether on the bank or boat catching fish, Derek Bell, Newburgh continues his good fortunes by again catching another 6, all returned from the bank, Derek who having been tying his own flies during the winter has had a spell of really good fishing and is reaping the benefits’ of using very small natural flies, another local lad doing very well is Colin Jeffery, Auchtermuchty who had 6 all returned, Colin was using buzzers and fished quite close to the shores, the Ospreys are doing a lot of damage to the fish this year, it seems that we have some young weak ospreys at the moment and with the fish all around the 2lb size they find them to heavy to lift out of the water, easily last week we saw them damage and kill at least 20 / 30 fish because they could not get airborne after catching their prey, making it worse is the fact that they just grip the fish for a few seconds and then let them go but by that time the fish has a few holes in it and eventually dies, we were watching them one evening about 5.30pm , and one of them which was exhausted but still determined to try and get airborne actually let us get to about 15 ft from it, close up they are not so pretty and look like a ruffled up old rug, soon I am hoping to put up on our website a video of same and will try to put it on google as well.
