Goldenloch 02/12/2008
No real report this week as the loch has been frozen over since Friday, however that hasn’t stopped anglers turning up, in fact the weekend was very amusing as there were a few hardy lads who spent all day breaking the ice for a few hours fishing and caught nothing as the ice kept forming on their lines and rod eyes, Sunday saw more people turn up than I have seen for a long time, and everyone was extremely disappointed to see the loch frozen, actually the surface of the loch now resemble the surface of the moon with it being covered in stones, rocks and lumps of ice, we will just need to wait a few days till it thaws and hope that the pesky cormorants have found somewhere else to catch fish as they were really bad just before it froze, on Friday I was doing my usual cormorant scaring tactics with my rifle, and was amazed that the sea eagle that has been around for the last few weeks came over to where I was and hovered 20 to 30 ft above me and its huge I really mean huge why it was attracted to what I was doing I don’t understand but it was not afraid of the noise of gunfire in fact I would say that it was positively attracted to the noise, to be so close to something like it as well, suddenly makes you think why is it here and will it attack, so it was a quick exit back into the car and leave well alone
